Nintendo typically excels at keeping secrets and preventing leaks, but this may become increasingly difficult as it enters the realm of billion-dollar Hollywood films. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled for release in April 2026, yet we’ve only had a glimpse in the form of a short teaser trailer thus far. It is anticipated that the sequel to 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie will feature Yoshi, Mario’s green dinosaur friend, as teased in a post-credits scene from the original film.
However, a Pillsbury product box advertising the movie (sugar cookies shaped like Yoshi eggs) appeared on the Tops Market website. This box seems to indicate Yoshi’s involvement in the film, despite his official absence from any trailers or promotional materials as of now.
Yoshi’s design here mirrors his appearance in the current Mario games. The primary clue linking it to the new movie is Mario soaring behind Yoshi on the box — it’s clearly Chris Pratt’s animated depiction of the character. Moreover, the product’s strong Galaxy theme hints at a connection to the forthcoming film based on the 2007 game. There’s even a subtle reference to Bowser Jr. on the back of the box.
Now I’m really curious to try those cookies.
