What is Connections: Sports Edition?

The NYT‘s newest daily word challenge, in partnership with The Athletic, which covers sports for the New York Times, is now available. Connections can be accessed via web browsers and mobile devices, requiring participants to categorize four words that share a commonality.

Every puzzle contains 16 words, split into four categories. These groups might include anything from book titles to software, country names, etc. While multiple terms may appear to connect, there is only one correct combination.

When a player accurately identifies all four words in a category, those words vanish from the board. Making an incorrect guess counts as a mistake — players are allowed a maximum of four mistakes before the game concludes.

Players have the ability to rearrange and shuffle the board to more easily identify connections. Each category is color-coded, with yellow being the simplest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Similar to Wordle, you can share your outcomes with friends on social media.
