Alien: Earth Season 2: What We’ve Learned Up To Now

FX’s *Alien: Earth* swiftly emerged as one of the most captivating shows of the summer. Throughout its eight episodes, Noah Hawley’s *Alien* prequel series offered audiences innovative technology, a plethora of horrifying creatures, and a truly stomach-churning mini *Alien* film. With the Season 1 finale approaching, can enthusiasts anticipate more *Alien: Earth* in a Season 2?

Is there going to be an *Alien: Earth* Season 2?

Absolutely! On Nov. 11, FX confirmed that *Alien: Earth* has been granted a second-season renewal. FX also disclosed that Hawley had entered into an overall agreement with FX and Disney Entertainment Television, which is promising for the future of *Alien: Earth*.

Hawley has been contemplating that future for quite some time. In a 2025 conversation with *Variety*, Hawley expressed his aspirations for additional seasons. “Season 1 is the proof of concept,” Hawley remarked. “And if it performs well commercially, then Season 2 is about establishing a framework on which we can envision creating a Season 3, 4, 5.”

Hawley is already considering the duration between seasons, informing *Evolution of Horror* that he has “a story destination in mind” and that his primary query moving forward is, “How can we streamline the process so that you’re not waiting three or four or five years for more?”

When will *Alien: Earth* Season 2 premiere?

FX has not yet announced a specific release date for *Alien: Earth* Season 2. However, the renewal announcement indicated that filming for Season 2 will commence in London in 2026. From this, we can make an informed estimate based on the turnaround time of Season 1.

Production for Season 1 of *Alien: Earth* began in July 2023, although it started filming without American SAG-AFTRA members due to the Hollywood strikes. (British cast members were able to continue as they were not affiliated with SAG-AFTRA.) Production was suspended later because of the strike, resuming in April 2024 and concluding in July 2024. The series debuted in Aug. 2025, resulting in a two-year period from the onset of production to release. This suggests we could be waiting until 2028 for Season 2.

Nevertheless, the production of *Alien: Earth* Season 2 won’t face another SAG-AFTRA strike, which means it should ideally take less time for Wendy (Sydney Chandler) and her Xenomorph to return to our screens.

*Alien: Earth* Season 1 is currently available for streaming on Hulu.
