Paramount+ is set to increase in price, yet you can still find ways to save on a subscription — here’s how

Paramount+ is the newest streaming platform to reveal a price hike, following similar moves by Netflix, Peacock, HBO Max, Apple TV+, YouTube TV, Disney+, and Hulu. Beginning January 2026, Paramount+ will increase its monthly and yearly subscription fees. Moreover, the newly formed Paramount Skydance will discontinue free trials. This signifies the second price increase within two years for Paramount+. In August 2024, rates rose from $5.99 to $7.99 for the ad-supported tier and from $11.99 to $12.99 for the ad-free option. The forthcoming rise will add another dollar to monthly plans: Paramount+ Essential will cost $8.99 per month, and Paramount+ Premium will be $13.99 per month. Annual plans will also experience a boost, with Paramount+ Essential going up from $59.99 to $89.99 per year, and Paramount+ Premium from $119.99 to $139.99 per year.

The updated prices will be implemented on January 15, 2026, allowing subscribers to lock in their deals. Paramount stated that its continuous investments in Paramount+ are increasing consumer value, making the price adjustment necessary in early 2026. These investments, exceeding $1.5 billion, comprise rights to UFC events, new Paramount+ originals, licensing third-party catalogs, and an expanded film lineup of 15 movies each year.

To reduce costs on a Paramount+ subscription, it is wise to enroll in an annual plan prior to the price increase. This choice provides a savings of $30 on the Essential plan and $20 on the Premium plan, in addition to the benefits of paying yearly versus monthly. Paramount+ is also assessing its discount methods, so it’s recommended to take advantage of existing promotions, including possible Black Friday deals, before any alterations take place.
