We carried out a survey among Mashable readers regarding the smart home products they utilize, and the findings are now published. Smart lighting represents one of the most straightforward methods to begin using smart home devices. Smart bulbs are economical and user-friendly, whether operated by a smart assistant or via a mobile app.
Philips Hue stands out as a prominent brand in smart lighting and has earned a Mashable Readers’ Choice Award. I have Philips Hue bulbs in my home and strongly endorse them, so I was delighted to discover that our readers value them as well.
In our Readers’ Choice Smartest Home survey, Philips Hue and TP-Link were the sole smart light brands to be awarded a Readers’ Choice Award. We asked readers to evaluate their smart bulbs on a scale from 1 to 10 based on various criteria, including bulb lifespan, routines and automation, and integration with smart assistants. Here’s how Philips Hue stacked up against competitors.
Numerous survey respondents described Philips Hue lights as “user-friendly,” with one labeling them “an excellent product.” Another noted they encountered no problems with their lights. A reader who mainly uses Alexa voice commands remarked, “Mostly they function exceptionally well,” and rated Philips a 9 out of 10 for overall satisfaction and willingness to recommend.
The prevailing concern among Philips Hue users, which I anticipated, is the price. A single color-changing bulb is priced starting at $24.99. A survey participant rated Philips Hue a 10 for overall satisfaction and an 8 for likelihood to recommend, explaining, “The only reason I am not ‘extremely likely’ to recommend Philips Hue is because they are relatively costly when compared to other brands.”
Philips Hue obtained an 8.1 rating for likelihood to recommend, which matches TP-Link’s score.
