What is Connections: Sports Edition?

The NYT‘s newest daily word game, created in partnership with The Athletic, evaluates sports knowledge. Connections can be enjoyed on web platforms and mobile devices, challenging players to categorize four words sharing a common theme.

Each puzzle consists of 16 words split into four categories. These groups may include book titles, software names, countries, etc. While many words might appear to connect, only one correct solution exists.

If a player successfully identifies all four words in a category, those words are taken off the board. Incorrect guesses count as errors, with a maximum of four allowed before the game concludes.

Players can rearrange and shuffle the board to discover connections more effortlessly. Each category is color-coded: yellow is the simplest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Similar to Wordle, results can be shared across social platforms.
