The release date for the upcoming Amazon Kindle Scribe and Amazon Kindle Scribe Colorsoft has been disclosed. Initially unveiled at Amazon’s Devices and Services event on September 30, 2025, a purchase date was not given until now. As of December 4, Amazon has confirmed that both devices will be on sale starting Wednesday, December 10.
At the Amazon Devices and Services event, Mashable’s tech editor, Timothy Beck Werth, had the opportunity to try out the new Scribe Colorsoft. These gadgets are ultra-slim and lightweight, with a thickness of 5.4 millimeters and a weight of 400 grams. Amazon has engineered a new chip for these e-readers, which is said to offer a 40 percent increase in speed. Each device boasts an 11-inch display with texture-molded glass, delivering a paper-like writing experience with the supplied premium pen. Both the Scribe and Scribe Colorsoft will be offered in 32GB and 64GB versions.
The Scribe Colorsoft will include a color display, enabling users to color-code their notes and annotations. Additionally, both devices will sync with Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive.
Neither device is open for preorder, thus purchases can only commence on December 10. The Kindle Scribe and Scribe Colorsoft are Amazon’s priciest e-readers, with the Kindle Scribe starting at $499.99 and the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft at $629.99.
