Sony’s forthcoming electric vehicle will bring unmatched customization options for license plates. As reported by TechRadar, Sony’s Afeela EV, showcased at several CES events but yet to hit the market, will unveil digital license plates. In partnership with Reviver, Sony aims to incorporate RPlate technology, allowing users to personalize their license plates using a smartphone app. This innovation may revolutionize the experience for vanity plate fans.
TechRadar states that the digital plates are equipped with a basic HD display, permitting users to toggle between black and white backgrounds and include personalized messages at the lower section, while the official license plate number stays positioned above. Possible messages might feature social media usernames or popular phrases, although it’s uncertain if vulgar language will be allowed.
Different U.S. states impose specific regulations regarding license plate appearances, hence this technology needs to adhere to various guidelines. Inquiries about the Afeela will be addressed upon its launch. Even though it made its debut at CES in 2023, the vehicle remains off the market and is speculated to be priced at nearly $90,000 in the U.S., representing a hefty investment for customizable license plates.
