The Emmy-winning medical series *The Pitt* makes its return to HBO Max on January 8, but you can catch its opening scene right now.
HBO Max has unveiled the initial 90 seconds of Season 2, offering a glimpse into the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center once more. As in Season 1, every episode depicts one hour during a 15-hour shift. This time, the shift is set on July 4, so anticipate grill burns, firework mishaps, and more as they arrive at the Pitt.
However, none of that tumult is displayed in the opening scene of *The Pitt* Season 2. Instead, these 90 seconds showcase Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch’s (Noah Wyle) journey to work. It’s a radiant sunny morning as he navigates Pittsburgh’s bridges on his motorcycle, and — hold on, excuse me, Dr. Robby, who is employed in an emergency department, is riding a motorcycle? Without a helmet? Has he not witnessed enough motorcycle and bicycle accidents to realize this is a poor choice? What is going on with this midlife crisis?
It doesn’t take long for *The Pitt* to bid farewell to those bright summer skies, as once Dr. Robby checks in, he and his team turn their attention to whatever July 4 may bring. Still, given Dr. Robby’s evident reckless behavior, I’m not only anxious about the patients on their way. I’m also worried about what’s unfolding with him.
*The Pitt* Season 2 debuts on January 8 on HBO Max.
