Google Maps might have implemented an update that greatly impacts the experience based on whether a user is logged into their Google account. As reported by the tech outlet 9to5Google, users who are not logged in now face a “limited view” of Maps, missing essential features such as displays of local businesses, comprehensive information about attractions, and user reviews. In this mode, selecting a restaurant does not reveal details like user feedback, peak hours, or dine-in/take-out options. Users have shared their observations regarding this change on Reddit. Some believe it could be a temporary glitch rather than a lasting adjustment. Tom’s Guide noted an error message suggesting possible network problems or Chrome extensions as factors, but logging in appears to fix the issue. Nevertheless, they encountered a restricted version without any error message while not logged in. Mashable has reached out to Google for clarification and will provide updates with further details.
