House of the Dragon Season 3 Teaser Unveils Blazing Preview of the Battle of the Gullet

If you’re feeling the absence of Westeros after “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” wraps up this Sunday, there’s no need to fret: “House of the Dragon” Season 3 is set to debut this June, accompanied by a teaser that suggests an intense, bloody showdown between Team Black and Team Green.

The conclusion of “House of the Dragon” Season 2 brought forth the promise of major developments. Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) journeyed to Dragonstone, extending an offer to Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) regarding the Red Keep, should she and her dragonriders arrive in King’s Landing.

At the same time, Triarchy forces made their way toward Westeros, intent on breaching Corlys Velaryon’s (Steve Toussain) naval blockade. In George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” this encounter is referred to as the Battle of the Gullet, and the teaser implies it’s finally heading to our screens.

The teaser reveals Rhaenyra’s troops, featuring her son Jacaerys (Harry Collett) and his dragon Vermax, launching an assault on the Triarchy vessels. The imagery is both awe-inspiring and chilling.

Additionally, the teaser hints at heightened action in Season 3, spanning from a battlefield encounter to Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) engaging the forces of House Hightower, signaling that Westeros is embroiled in a cycle of war. I might have to revisit Dunk (Peter Claffey) and Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell) to unwind.

“House of the Dragon” is set to premiere this June on HBO and HBO Max.
