What is Connections: Sports Edition?
The NYT’s newest daily word challenge, in partnership with The Athletic, centers around sports topics. Connections is accessible via web browsers and mobile devices, tasking players with grouping four words that are linked.

Each challenge consists of 16 words categorized into four groups. These groups can encompass anything from book titles to software or names of countries. While several words may appear related, there is only one correct answer.
When players successfully identify all four words in a category, those words are cleared from the board. Incorrect guesses count as errors — players are permitted up to four mistakes before concluding the game.

Players have the option to rearrange and shuffle the board to identify connections more readily. Each group is distinguished by color: yellow denotes the easiest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Similar to Wordle, players can share their results on social media.
