It’s an exhilarating time for Minecraft fans. Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios have announced plans for Minecraft World, a £50 million ($66.7 million) themed area scheduled to debut at Chessington World of Adventures near London in 2027. This will mark the first fully immersive Minecraft theme park experience ever created. Given Minecraft’s position as the best-selling video game of all time, it is somewhat unexpected that it took this long.
The park will showcase a world-first Minecraft roller coaster, interactive attractions, block-built play zones, along with themed dining and shopping options. As indicated in Merlin’s press release, Minecraft World is among its most ambitious theme park projects in recent years, developed in close collaboration with Mojang to guarantee an authentic Minecraft experience. Several prominent Minecraft creators are also aiding in bringing the universe to life.
Chessington is roughly 35 minutes from London Waterloo by direct train, should you be planning your visit.
In gaming updates, Mojang revealed two upcoming updates during its Minecraft Live March 2026 presentation. The first, Tiny Takeover, is set for release on March 24 and provides a visual and audio refresh for nearly every baby mob, including new models, updated sound effects, and distinctive “sound personalities” for farm animals. A new item, the Golden Dandelion, enables players to maintain any mob in its baby state indefinitely.
Later in 2026, Chaos Cubed will introduce sulfur caves—dangerous underground biomes filled with gas particles that create a toxic effect—and a new mob referred to as the sulfur cube, which absorbs surrounding materials and adapts its properties accordingly.
