What is Connections: Sports Edition?

The NYT‘s newest daily word game is created in partnership with The Athletic, the sports section of the New York Times. The sports Connections is available on web browsers and mobile devices, asking players to categorize four words that share a common theme.

Each puzzle consists of 16 words, segmented into four groups. These collections may range from book names to software or country titles. Although several words might appear to fit together, only one combination is correct.

If a player accurately associates all four words, those words are eliminated from the board. A wrong guess is counted as an error — players can make a maximum of four errors before the game concludes.

Players have the option to rearrange and shuffle the board to better identify links. Each group is color-coded, with yellow being the simplest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Much like Wordle, you can share your results on social media.
