A fresh innovation in the technology sector has emerged: an AI application intended to “reverse” AI writing. Sinceerly, a Google Chrome extension, modifies emails that are either AI-generated or written by humans by inserting errors typically eliminated by AI tools and changing clear AI text signals, like the expression “not just X, but Y.” Em dashes are also addressed, despite being one of my personal favorites. Still, Sinceerly seeks to remove them, as mentioned on its website.
The application provides three settings: subtle, human, and CEO. Each setting progressively renders the text more informal, with “CEO” mode missing proper punctuation and incorporating “Sent from my iPhone.”
Sinceerly allows three free email rewrites and is compatible with Gmail. For $4.99 per month, users gain access to unlimited rewrites, immediate mode transitions, and the capability to cache results for swift retrieval.
Ben Horwitz, a partner at Dorm Room Fund, created Sinceerly, as per the website.
The concept of deploying AI to produce text, only for another AI application to enhance its human likeness, appears ridiculous yet may signify the prevailing sentiment towards AI-generated material in 2026. Recently, major publisher Hachette withdrew the novel Shy Girl due to claims of AI authorship and/or subpar writing.
Perhaps it would be easier to—gasp—compose text on your own.
