Elon Musk’s X Unveils ‘Block’ Update Enabling Blocked Users to Access Your Posts

It appears that Elon Musk’s platform, X (previously referred to as Twitter), has proceeded with its divisive adjustments to the block feature, despite encountering considerable criticism.

“We are beginning to roll out the block function update,” an official X account [tweeted](https://x.com/XEng/status/1852934762144698736) on Sunday.

X had earlier [revealed](https://mashable.com/article/x-moving-forward-with-blocking-changes-dangerous-for-users) its intention to alter how the block feature functions, which ignited extensive backlash. The bulk of reactions to this recent update continues to be unfavorable.

One prominent [response](https://x.com/esjesjesj/status/1853100764916310430) to the announcement bluntly expressed, “F***ing morons.”

In spite of the disapproval, some users indicated they had already observed the changes to the block feature on their accounts as of Sunday.

### How X Has Altered the ‘Block’ Feature

In the past, when a user was blocked on X, they could not see any content related to the account that blocked them while logged in. This encompassed the blocked user’s profile, posts, follower and following lists, and replies to other public posts. Moreover, blocked users were unable to interact with or message the account that had blocked them.

With the recent update, blocked users can now access the profile and posts of the individual who blocked them. Nevertheless, they are still prohibited from following, sending direct messages to, interacting with, or replying to the blocked account.

This modification has raised alarms about the likelihood of ongoing harassment or stalking. Opponents contend that malicious users can now more easily oversee the posts and updates of individuals who have blocked them, without the need to create new accounts or undertake extra steps to circumvent the block.

Formerly, blocked users had to establish a new account and switch to it if they wished to see content from someone who had blocked them. Now, they can monitor those users’ posts with no additional effort.
