Netflix is poised to make a significant cut to its library of interactive titles, a feature that previously garnered much excitement. A report from *The Verge* indicates that the streaming leader will keep only four interactive specials on its service: *Black Mirror: Bandersnatch*, the *Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt* special *Kimmy vs. the Reverend*, and two Bear Grylls offerings, *Ranveer vs. Wild* and *You vs. Wild*. These selections enable viewers to influence the storyline, resulting in varying conclusions, and they will continue to be accessible for streaming.
Conversely, the remainder of Netflix’s interactive selection will be taken down after December 1. This action includes other Bear Grylls interactive specials, *Headspace: Unwind Your Mind* (although *Headspace Guide to Meditation* will remain), the quiz game *Triviaverse*, and multiple children’s interactive features such as *Carmen Sandiego: To Steal or Not to Steal*, *Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous: Hidden Adventure*, *Captain Underpants Epic Choice-o-Rama*, *Spirit Riding Free: Ride Along Adventure*, and *Johnny Test’s Ultimate Meatloaf Quest*.
A significant title to be removed is *Puss in Book: Trapped in an Epic Tale*, Netflix’s inaugural interactive game that debuted in 2017. At that point, Netflix was optimistic about the format, citing positive reactions from parents who valued the decision-making aspect for their kids. However, Netflix representative Chrissy Kelleher informed *The Verge* that while the technology behind these interactive features “served its purpose,” it has started to feel restrictive as the company pivots towards other technological innovations.
Consequently, Netflix’s “Interactive Specials” section will appear much sparser following these removals, signaling the conclusion of an era for the platform’s foray into interactive storytelling.
