Reasons You May Be Waiting Some Time for a Revamped MacBook

Apple is in the midst of refreshing its Mac lineup. Just this month, the tech giant rolled out the completely new **Mac Mini M4**, featuring a thoroughly redesigned aesthetic. In addition, Apple unveiled a fresh series of **MacBook Pro M4** laptops. However, unlike the Mac Mini, the MacBook Pro variants did not undergo any hardware redesign.

The positive news for Apple fans is that an updated range of MacBooks is indeed under development. Regrettably, if you’re keen on acquiring one, you may need to exercise a bit more patience than you had hoped.

A report from [*The Elec*](https://www.thelec.kr/news/articleView.html?idxno=31036) (noted by [*CNET*](https://www.cnet.com/tech/computing/apple-reportedly-pushes-oled-macbook-air-release-by-another-year/)) reveals that Apple’s ambitions for revamped MacBooks have been postponed due to challenges with display technology. The report suggests that Apple is integrating “premium display technology” into these upcoming models, which may result in a notable price hike. However, Apple is reportedly worried about how such elevated prices might affect consumer interest.

Apple insider Mark Gurman from *Bloomberg* indicated that the company initially planned to launch a redesigned **MacBook Pro** in 2025. Nevertheless, owing to the display-related difficulties, the MacBook Pros set to be released next year are likely to retain the same design as their predecessors. The updated MacBook Pros are now anticipated to make their debut in 2026.

Moreover, a revamped **MacBook Air** equipped with an OLED display is also in the works. Unfortunately, this model has faced additional delays, with a new launch date pushed to 2028, again due to issues with display technology. As noted by *CNET*, Apple launched an OLED **iPad Pro** earlier this year, priced starting at $999. The company initially expected to ship 10 million units but has since adjusted its forecast to between 6 and 7 million.

Thus, if you’re an Apple devotee looking for a MacBook with enhanced capabilities, the latest M4-powered versions provide excellent choices. However, if you’re waiting for a MacBook with a new design, it seems you’ll have to stick with the current model for at least a few more years.
