X is intensifying its AI initiatives.
This past weekend, a novel AI image generator named Aurora started to be available to X users, as reported by TechCrunch. Aurora, which can be found in the Grok AI tab located at the bottom of the X app, enables users to produce realistic images from textual prompts. Interestingly, one of the most unexpected features of Aurora is its seemingly unrestricted ability to generate photo-realistic images of actual individuals. For instance, I was able to create an image depicting the incoming president adorned with cheese.
Apple’s iOS 18.2 is arriving soon: Here are 4 new features to anticipate
Though Aurora won’t produce explicit or nude imagery, it appears to extend the limits further than what many standard AI image generators permit. Numerous popular tools prevent users from including copyrighted content or real identities in their prompts, but Aurora seems to impose fewer limitations. X’s Grok AI has offered image creation tools for a while, but Aurora appears to be a fresh and unique engine. Information regarding its origins, creators, or training data is still not clear. Past reports suggested that the Grok chatbot learns from user data, so it’s possible that Aurora functions in a similar manner.
Feel free to experiment with it—or not. The decision is yours.
