Reports Indicate Apple is Eventually Welcoming Foldable Gadgets

For many years, we’ve been hearing speculations, gossip, and even observing patent applications pointing towards **Apple**’s foray into foldable technology. Nonetheless, these insights have always included a caveat: such endeavors are still **not close to realization** and may evolve over time.

Now, a renewed series of reports imply that Apple’s foldable products are indeed being developed, although their introduction might still be a couple of years off.

### Apple’s Foldable Initiatives Are Progressing

A recent article from the **Wall Street Journal** released on Sunday indicates that Apple is creating two foldable devices. The first is a more extensive gadget, characterized as being intended to operate as a laptop. When opened, its screen would span roughly **19 inches diagonally**.

The second device is smaller and resembles a smartphone. When completely unfolded, its display would surpass that of the **iPhone 16 Pro Max**, according to the report.

Apple has allegedly explored a variety of designs but seems to have chosen an **inward-folding design** for its foldable devices. There’s a possibility that the foldable iPhone may reach the market in **2026**, although there are technical challenges to address. Meanwhile, the foldable laptop/tablet combination might come at a later time.

### Divergent Reports on Apple’s Foldables

In his most recent newsletter, **Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman** also provided his perspective on Apple’s foldable initiatives, albeit his version diverges slightly from the WSJ’s account. Gurman suspects the larger foldable device will be similar to a **large iPad** instead of an all-screen MacBook and is expected to operate on **iPadOS**. He forecasts this device will make its debut around **2028**.

Gurman also confirms the possibility of a foldable iPhone, which he suggests could launch as soon as **2026**.

### A Sleek iPhone Under Development?

The WSJ article also mentioned another intriguing advancement: Apple is allegedly working on a **super-slim iPhone**, tentatively called the **iPhone Air**, which might be released as early as next year. Although specifics are limited, the device is anticipated to be slimmer than existing models and to incorporate a more straightforward camera setup. It is also rumored to be **less expensive than the Pro series**.

### What Lies Ahead for Apple?

Though Apple’s foldable products are still a few years from launch, these reports suggest that the company is making notable strides. Whether it’s a foldable iPhone, a laptop/tablet amalgam, or a sleek, ultra-thin iPhone, Apple appears ready to introduce some thrilling innovations to its product range in the foreseeable future.
