Oppo Ready to Unveil the Slimmest Foldable Phone on the Planet

**Slender Smartphones Are Making a Return**

Slim smartphones are back in style. While **Apple** is expected to introduce a more streamlined version of the iPhone, possibly dubbed the **iPhone Air**, this autumn, Chinese tech powerhouse **Oppo** is set to capture attention with its forthcoming **Oppo Find N5**. The firm asserts that this gadget will be the **thinnest foldable phone** in the world.

Recently, Oppo teased the Find N5, highlighting its ultra-slim design, which is said to be thinner than a typical pencil. The teaser, posted by Oppo’s Chief Product Officer **Pete Lau** on **Weibo** (via **GSMArena**), indicated that the phone will debut in **February**. Although specifics are sparse, the teaser has ignited enthusiasm among tech aficionados.

Regarding conventional **smartphones**, slender designs can be a mixed blessing. While a sleek look is attractive, excessively thin devices may be more vulnerable to damage (recall **Bendgate**?) and may lack the comfortable feel of slightly heavier phones. Nevertheless, for **foldable phones**, thinness is transformative. Foldables are generally bulkier and weigh more than regular smartphones, thus a thinner foldable achieves an ideal equilibrium—providing additional screen space without sacrificing portability.

At present, the **Honor Magic V3** earns the title of the slimmest foldable phone, measuring only **4.35mm** thick when unfolded and **9.2mm** thick when folded. Oppo’s Find N5 is anticipated to redefine these limits even further.

While official specs for the Oppo Find N5 are still to be verified, rumors indicate it will come equipped with a **Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chip**, a **triple 50-megapixel rear camera system**, and a **5,900mAh battery**. If accurate, these features would make it a formidable contender alongside its ultra-slim design.

Sadly, the Oppo Find N5 will likely be limited to the Chinese market. However, there’s talk that Oppo’s sibling brand, **OnePlus**, may rebrand and launch the device internationally as the **OnePlus Open 2**—a tactic previously used by Oppo with the Oppo Find N3 and the OnePlus Open.

As the competition for slimmer and more innovative foldable phones intensifies, it’s evident that 2024 promises to be an exhilarating year for smartphone fans.
