Finally!
After countless years of obvious dismissals, Beyoncé has at last secured the prestigious Grammy for Album of the Year for her revolutionary album, Cowboy Carter. If that doesn’t qualify as country, then what does?
At the 67th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday, Beyoncé shared a moving and succinct acceptance speech. She conveyed her appreciation to the Los Angeles fire department, who presented the honor, and also recognized all the songwriters, collaborators, and producers who played a part in creating Cowboy Carter.
“I just feel incredibly fulfilled and truly honored,” Beyoncé stated during her speech. “It’s been a long, long time.”
Even though she holds the record for the most accolades and nominations in Grammy history — boasting 32 wins and 99 nominations — Beyoncé had never won Album of the Year until now. She had previously been nominated four times (I Am … Sasha Fierce in 2008, Beyoncé in 2013, Lemonade in 2016, and Renaissance in 2023). Even Adele had once spoken out about the unfairness. Yet, with her fifth nomination for Cowboy Carter, Beyoncé finally took the stage to receive the award she truly merited.
So, what are you holding back for? Turn up Cowboy Carter and give the Grammys a knowing glance.
