Meta Initiates Significant Employee Reductions

**Meta Unveils Significant Layoffs in Response to AI Transformation**

Meta has become the newest technology giant to shrink its employee base, launching a major wave of job reductions as it emphasizes the advancement of artificial intelligence.

In an **internal memo** dispatched to staff on February 10, Meta announced that it would commence notifying “underperforming” workers identified through managerial assessments and attrition statistics from the previous year. Approximately 4,000 workers across the U.S., Europe, and Asia are anticipated to be impacted, with notifications first sent to employees in the U.S.

### **Meta’s Reorganization Plan**

Last month, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg confirmed intentions to trim the company’s workforce by more than 5%, citing a forthcoming “challenging year.” Based on a **leaked Workplace memo**, the organization is reconfiguring itself to boost efficiency and redirect attention toward AI and **artificial general intelligence (AGI)** projects.

Internal documents reveal that Meta is speeding up the recruitment of machine learning experts while reallocating essential leadership to its **generative AI division**.

Nevertheless, some employees have voiced concerns regarding the shifting company culture. “Mark is instilling fear. He’s creating an atmosphere where allegiance to him is essential,” an anonymous employee shared with *Business Insider*. “Self-censorship is prevalent. In a company founded on connecting individuals, the human aspect of our work is diminishing, and everyone is becoming increasingly robotic.”

### **Zuckerberg’s Political Connections and Policy Adjustments**

Zuckerberg was recently observed **exiting the White House**, after his **public endorsement** of former President Donald Trump. Just before Trump took office, Meta announced the discontinuation of its **Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies** and revisions to its **Hateful Conduct policy**, which governs content concerning marginalized groups.

As Meta experiences these extensive transformations, the company continues to manage both internal reorganization and external criticism regarding its leadership choices and policy changes.
