**Captain America: Brave New World Brings Adamantium to the MCU – Here’s Its Significance**

### Adamantium May Soon Surpass Vibranium in the MCU

Vibranium might not hold the title of the most significant fictional metal in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) anymore.

This shift is due to the introduction of adamantium in *Captain America: Brave New World* to the franchise. This formidable metal is found within the Celestial that surfaced from the Indian Ocean in *Eternals*. It has since become the epicenter of a global struggle, with nations competing for control of the planet’s sole known supply.

Nevertheless, adamantium serves more than just a narrative purpose in *Brave New World*—it’s also paving the way for the long-anticipated arrival of the X-Men in the MCU.

### How Will Adamantium Influence the MCU?

In the Marvel comics, adamantium is an artificial alloy, yet in the MCU, it seems to be a naturally existing element located within the Celestial. Most importantly, adamantium is the substance that fortifies Wolverine’s skeleton, marking it as a crucial element for integrating the legendary X-Men character into the MCU.

Although Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine is set to feature in *Deadpool & Wolverine*, his interpretation of Logan resides within the multiverse and doesn’t coincide with the main timeline of the MCU. With the advent of adamantium, the franchise is poised to start crafting its own interpretation of Wolverine.

In *Brave New World*, U.S. President Thaddeus Ross (played by Harrison Ford) emphasizes the possibilities that adamantium holds for technological and medical evolution. This might suggest that Wolverine’s backstory is already in motion within a covert laboratory. In addition, adamantium could be utilized to enhance current MCU technology, such as upgrading armor or even modifying Captain America’s shield.

### The X-Men Are Nearer Than Ever

The introduction of adamantium is merely the latest in a succession of hints regarding the X-Men since Disney took over 21st Century Fox. *WandaVision* made a brief nod to Evan Peters reprising his role as Quicksilver (in a way), while *The Marvels* included a mid-credit sequence showcasing Kelsey Grammer returning as Beast from the *X-Men* movies.

At the same time, *Deadpool & Wolverine* is loaded with nods to the Fox-era X-Men, featuring surprise cameos and behind-the-scenes snippets from the original films. While that film acts as a nostalgic goodbye to the X-Men familiar to fans for years, the revelation of adamantium in *Brave New World* seems like a significant progression toward introducing the MCU’s own rendition of the mutant team.

After numerous hints and anticipation, it appears the X-Men’s debut in the MCU is finally imminent.

*Captain America: Brave New World* is currently showing in theaters.
