Bowen Yang, Lily Gladstone, Kelly Marie Tran, and Han Gi-Chan lead the impressive cast of *The Wedding Banquet*, a much-awaited remake of Ang Lee’s 1993 romantic comedy.
Directed and co-written by *Fire Island* creator Andrew Ahn, in collaboration with Lee’s original co-writer James Schamus, the film revolves around two couples and their interconnected predicaments—culminating in a well-meaning strategy that swiftly unravels.
Oscar-winner Lily Gladstone (*Killers of the Flower Moon*) and *The Last Jedi* alum Kelly Marie Tran take on the roles of Angela and Lee, a lesbian couple grappling with the financial strain of IVF procedures. On the other hand, *Wicked* performer Bowen Yang and *Our Song*’s Han Gi-Chan portray Chris and Min, a gay couple confronting their own challenges—especially Min’s forthcoming visa expiration and their varying levels of dedication.
In a bid to resolve both dilemmas, the four friends devise a plan: Angela and Min will enter a green card marriage, while Min and Chris will handle the expenses of Angela and Lee’s IVF processes. Yet, when Min’s grandmother—portrayed by renowned Oscar-winning actress Youn Yuh-jung (*Pachinko*, *Minari*)—comes to arrange an elaborate wedding banquet, their meticulously designed plan spirals into a chaotic blend of stress, spectacle, and humor.
*The Wedding Banquet* hits theaters on April 18.
