Seth Meyers and Paul Rudd’s Day Drinking Descends into Side-Splitting Mayhem

On a recent installment of Late Night With Seth Meyers, host Seth Meyers invited Paul Rudd — the star of the latest film Death of a Unicorn — for a session of day drinking, and the outcome was just as uproariously chaotic as fans would anticipate.

This piece is a segment of Meyers’ well-liked “Seth Goes Day Drinking” series, which has showcased celebrity guests like Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Kristen Stewart, Dua Lipa, Will Forte, Lizzo, Rihanna, Lorde, Retta, and Kelly Clarkson in the past. This time, long-time friends Meyers and Rudd kicked off the fun by tasting a collection of unusual cocktails inspired by Rudd’s film history.

Among the whimsically odd drinks was the Ant-Man cocktail, crafted solely from tiny bottles of alcohol — a playful reference to Rudd’s role as a Marvel superhero. Next up was the Knocked Up, a blended disaster of foods typically associated with pregnancy cravings. (Indeed, Meyers insisted on maintaining intense eye contact with Rudd during the blending process.)

But the most notorious drink of the affair? The Romeo + Juliet. In the film, Rudd portrayed the forgettable Count Paris, and the drink named after this character lived up to its perilous reputation. “Everything in this will kill you,” Meyers cautioned before the duo consumed a blend of Four Loko, Five Hour Energy, and hot sauce. The results were so extreme that production had to halt for three days before they could complete filming.

Despite the pandemonium, Rudd returned in great spirits (though lacking his unicorn-themed cowboy hat) to tackle a series of ridiculous games. The pair reenacted scenes from Taken, shot unicorn heads with Ghostbusters-style proton packs, and may have even set a new benchmark for the loudest belch in the show’s history.

Death of a Unicorn is currently showing in theaters.
