DC Studios has revealed a sneak peek at the forthcoming Superman movie, showcasing a poignant moment of the legendary hero in a delicate situation. In the footage, Superman — traditionally viewed as the personification of truth, justice, and the American ideal — is depicted bruised, bloodied, and struggling to breathe as he tumbles to the earth. The visuals resonate deeply in the context of today’s society.
David Corenswet assumes the mantle of the Man of Steel, who appears anything but invulnerable in this particular scene, a moment previously hinted at in an earlier trailer. Fortunately, assistance comes in the form of his faithful companion, Krypto. With a mere whistle, the super-powered pooch races to his side, enthusiastically pulling Superman to safety — though not without a few spirited, tail-wagging leaps en route. Even extraterrestrial canines, it seems, can’t help but greet their humans with exuberance.
Helmed by James Gunn, the film also features Nicholas Hoult in the role of the nefarious Lex Luthor and Rachel Brosnahan as brave journalist Lois Lane.
Superman is slated to ascend to theaters on July 11.
