What Is Connections?
Connections is a daily word game from The New York Times that has exploded in popularity on social media. Created with the assistance of associate puzzle editor Wyna Liu, the game asks players to find sets of four words that have a common theme or category.
Available on both desktop and mobile, each puzzle features 16 words. Your goal? Organize them into four groups of four based on a shared link—whether it’s book titles, software, countries, or something more intricate. Although some terms may seem like they fit together, there is only one correct grouping for each batch.
When you successfully identify a group, those words vanish from the board. But watch out—each wrong guess counts as a mistake, and you’re limited to four before the game concludes.
To assist you in recognizing patterns, you can shuffle the words displayed on the board. Each group is also color-coded by difficulty: yellow (easiest), green, blue, and purple (hardest). And similar to Wordle, you can share your results with friends on social media.
