Unexpectedly, Asus Could Possess an Authentic Rival to the Apple Watch

Beware, Apple Watch — a fresh competitor is entering the smartwatch scene, and it hails from an unexpected origin.

Asus, primarily recognized for its superior gaming laptops, has now presented the VivoWatch 6 AERO, a revolutionary smartwatch that distinguishes itself by being the first to integrate both blood pressure and ECG monitoring within a single device.

While ECG (electrocardiogram) capability has been a fundamental aspect of smartwatches like the Apple Watch since Series 4 — aiding users in identifying atrial fibrillation — Asus elevates the concept further. The VivoWatch 6 AERO features wristband-based blood pressure monitoring, removing the requirement for conventional arm cuffs. This unobtrusive and practical feature could transform the experience for those managing hypertension or hypotension who need regular or continuous assessments.

Even though Apple is anticipated to launch a new watch model later this year, it is still uncertain if it will incorporate blood pressure monitoring.

Weighing a mere 27 grams, the VivoWatch 6 AERO is lighter than the most petite Apple Watch model. It showcases a 1.1-inch AMOLED display and allows immediate access to your health metrics with a simple tap. In addition to its remarkable blood pressure functionalities, the watch also monitors steps, heart rate, blood oxygen levels, calories expended, and sleep cycles. It comes with built-in GPS for tracking activities and sports a 5 ATM water resistance rating, making it appropriate for swimming and other aquatic pursuits.

Alongside its health and fitness capabilities, the VivoWatch 6 AERO operates like a conventional smartwatch, providing call and message alerts, a timer, alerts for inactivity, and remote camera operation. Users can also explore their health data in more detail through the Asus HealthConnect App.

Currently, Asus has not disclosed the pricing or release date for the VivoWatch 6 AERO, but its pioneering features imply it could become a formidable contender in the wearable technology sector.
