Elon Musk’s AI helper Grok, created by his firm X, now features a memory capability.
As per an update from X’s official account, Grok can now remember prior interactions with users. This enhancement allows the AI to provide more customized and context-sensitive replies. For instance, in a shared example on social media, a user asked for a workout regimen and received a response that took into account their past conversations about fitness interests and experience.
Users can check which memories Grok has referenced in its replies by clicking the “Referenced Cards” icon located beneath a response. Moreover, users can choose to remove specific memories if they wish.
At present, Grok’s memory feature is in beta and is accessible on both iOS and Android devices. However, it is not yet available in the European Union or the United Kingdom. X has announced that the feature will be launched for Grok on its platform “soon.”
This enhancement aligns Grok with other AI assistants that have recently unveiled similar features. OpenAI’s ChatGPT now offers a memory option that allows it to refer back to earlier discussions to improve personalization. Similarly, Google’s Gemini introduced a related capability in February, allowing it to recall previous chats for more relevant responses.
