Instagram has officially introduced its standalone video-editing application, named Edits, which is now accessible worldwide on both the App Store and Google Play.
Crafted to compete with TikTok’s CapCut, Edits enables users to produce and refine videos directly from their mobile devices. Whether you are creating content for Instagram Reels or other platforms, this app provides an extensive array of tools to elevate your video editing experience.
Notable features of Edits encompass long-form video recording, project management, and the option to export videos without any watermark. Instagram claims the app features a frame-accurate timeline with clip-level editing, as well as tools for audio enhancement, green screen effects, transitions, and AI-driven image animation.
Edits also presents two distinctive tabs to facilitate the creative journey. The “Inspiration” tab allows users to browse trending Reels and audio clips, making it simple to save concepts for upcoming projects. Conversely, the “Ideas” tab assists users in arranging their creative thoughts, notes, and saved materials in one convenient location.
“We aim to develop the finest creative tools to enable creators to express themselves, not only on Instagram or Facebook, but across any platform,” Instagram stated in a press release. “We have more thrilling features on the horizon and will continue to heed feedback to enhance the app weekly.”
This release comes after an announcement made around three months prior by Instagram head Adam Mosseri, who characterized Edits as a “complete suite of creative tools” intended to empower content creators.
If Edits meets expectations, it may evolve into a preferred application for creators in search of robust, mobile-first video editing functionalities.
