Google has subtly introduced a quiet modification to its distinctive “G” logo — but you’ll need a keen eye to notice the change.
The updated design has begun to show up in the Google Search app on iOS, as initially reported by 9to5Google, and is also rolling out to the Android version. Although the general shape of the “G” stays the same and still includes Google’s recognizable red, yellow, green, and blue colors, the shades now transition more seamlessly into each other. The outcome is a more polished, contemporary appearance.
At present, the new logo can only be seen in a few locations. Numerous Google platforms, such as the web version of Google Search and the official Google Search blog, still showcase the previous version of the icon. Even Google’s official brand resource center has yet to display the update.
The vibrant “G” logo was first unveiled in 2015, taking the place of the original lowercase “g” that was shown in white on a blue backdrop. This recent adjustment hints that Google might be gearing up to gradually refresh its branding across additional services — but for the moment, the changes are still confined.
