Movie stars are famous for subtly taking keepsakes from their movie sets — and the Star Wars ensemble is not an exception.
Natalie Portman has recently entered the group of celebrity set collectors, disclosing her own sneaky moments during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. While promoting her soon-to-be-released heist adventure film, Fountain of Youth, Portman recounted a few noteworthy items she’s acquired over the years.
“I took the lighter from Jackie — that was neat, it was personalized,” she mentioned, alluding to her portrayal in the 2016 biopic about Jackie Kennedy. But her most fascinating memento? “I took one of Anakin’s braids from Star Wars,” she confessed. “They had that clip-on, and they made like, 30 of them because he needed a new one each day, a freshie.”
Colbert, entertained, inquired if anyone was aware of her on-set thievery. “Did George [Lucas] know? So this is how he’s finding out?” he quipped.
“I lost it, so I can’t return it,” Portman responded with a smile.
Thus, somewhere out there, one of Hayden Christensen’s legendary clip-on braids from Attack of the Clones is roaming free — one of at least 30, all due to a little behind-the-scenes fun.
