Alien: Earth Enthusiasts, Caution: Steer Clear of Consuming Food or Beverages During Episode 5

As an avid television viewer, I frequently enjoy meals while exploring new series. This can occasionally be challenging, such as when I witnessed the multiple surgeries in *The Pitt* during dinner. (Not the most pleasant dining experience, but I did it again.)

Nevertheless, no show has entirely dampened my appetite quite like *Alien: Earth*, episode 5.

To clarify, I navigated the remainder of the show without any problems, coupling Xenomorph assaults with ample snack interruptions, without issues. But everything shifted in episode 5, titled “In Space, No One…”

The episode serves as an extended flashback, transitioning from Boy Kavalier’s (Samuel Blenkin) Neverland research facility to the USCSS Maginot before its crash landing on Earth.

*Alien: Earth* had already alluded to the crew’s destiny on the Maginot. Episode 1 depicted a Xenomorph loose, taking down crew member Zaveri (Richa Moorjani) and likely others. Later, in episode 2, Hermit (Alex Lawther) and his soldiers discovered several crew bodies, eyes bloodied, faces horrified. They also encountered a crew member on a medical table with his chest sliced open and alien remains in his GI tract. Whatever transpired, it was not pleasant, but it didn’t elevate my queasiness to concerning levels.

Observing the corpses is one thing. Witnessing the horrors on the Maginot unfold is an entirely different experience — it left me steering clear of snacks and even my water bottle for a spell. No spoilers, but it’s predictably gruesome! Nauseating, indeed.

So, *Alien: Earth* enthusiasts, take my advice. Eat or drink prior to watching episode 5, but not during. Avoid making it a TV dinner occasion, forgo the dessert, and don’t even contemplate a glass of wine. You’ll regret it more than the crew of the Maginot regretted stepping aboard that spaceship.

Episode 5 of *Alien: Earth* debuts tonight at 8 p.m. ET on Hulu and FX. New episodes air Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Hulu and FX.
