Amazon appears to be encountering difficulties with its expected AI enhancements for Alexa. A report from *Bloomberg* indicates that the significant AI upgrade for the voice assistant, which was originally set to launch by the end of this year, has now been postponed to 2025. The aim of this enhancement is to increase Alexa’s intelligence, improve its conversational skills, and enable it to manage more complicated tasks. Nevertheless, it appears that advancements have hit a standstill.
The *Bloomberg* article points out several challenges faced during the testing phase. Beta users have reported that Alexa’s AI sometimes delivers lengthy and irrelevant replies to inquiries. Additional issues reported include AI “hallucinations” and erratic performance with connected smart devices like light switches.
Although Amazon has not officially acknowledged the postponement, beta access to the revamped Alexa has seemingly been disabled, indicating that users can no longer experiment with the upcoming features. It looks like the upgraded Alexa experience may not come until 2025.
