Amazon Introduces New AWS Incident Reporting Tool Right on Schedule

Amazon has launched a new tool for generating incident reports within CloudWatch, allowing users to quickly create reports for post-incident analysis.

The company disclosed this capability in a blog entry on Wednesday, without referencing that a significant AWS outage had affected a large part of the internet a few days earlier.

Amazon CloudWatch is a service that enables users to oversee applications and resources on Amazon’s AWS cloud, in addition to other clouds. It is primarily used by enterprises operating on AWS.

As stated by Amazon, the new functionality generates comprehensive reports by automatically capturing crucial operational telemetry, service configurations, and inquiry results. It is accessible in numerous regions, including US East, where the recent outage took place.

The tool is accessible in the following regions: US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (Oregon), Asia Pacific (Hong Kong), Asia Pacific (Mumbai), Asia Pacific (Singapore), Asia Pacific (Sydney), Asia Pacific (Tokyo), Europe (Frankfurt), Europe (Ireland), Europe (Spain), and Europe (Stockholm).

To generate your initial incident report, initiate a CloudWatch investigation and select “Incident report.”
