Apple’s newest iPhones are seeing strong pre-order numbers, although there is some ambiguity regarding one model. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo provided updates on the interest for Apple’s latest iPhone series on X this Monday. Kuo stated that the pre-order interest for the iPhone 17 series during its first weekend was “better than that of the iPhone 16 from last year.”
The priciest model — the robust iPhone 17 Pro Max — reportedly has the highest interest, while other versions of the iPhone 17 are also performing favorably.
Regarding Apple’s new iPhone Air, it seems to be lagging in performance, according to Kuo, but he admits it’s premature to reach a conclusion. He observes that the interest in the iPhone Air “appears to be lower than that of the iPhone 16 Plus during the same timeframe last year,” as indicated by Apple’s shipping timelines. Nonetheless, the production rate of the iPhone Air was supposedly around three times that of the iPhone 16 Plus during equivalent periods, implying that the iPhone Air might be selling adequately while Apple is manufacturing a larger quantity.
“Thus, it is more accurate to assess demand after a sales period,” Kuo concludes.
Apple’s latest iPhones were unveiled last Tuesday at the company’s yearly September launch event and went up for pre-order on Friday. They will hit the stores on Friday, Sept. 19.
