Google is introducing the Android 16 Quarterly Platform Release (QPR) 2, indicating that your device may be set for an update.
The Android 16 QPR2 update brings various new features designed to improve performance, usability, and more. Here are three features to check out.
Introduce widgets on your lock screen
With the newly updated Android 16, you can introduce widgets on your lock screen by swiping left. As reported by 9to5Google, you can enable this feature by navigating to “Settings > Display & touch > Lock screen > Widgets on lock screen.”
This provides quick access to your calendar, camera, and additional options.
Notification management and summaries
Everyone experiences notification overload. Android 16 QPR2 employs AI to enhance notification management. It will condense notifications, such as lengthy group chat conversations, and emphasize important ones.
“The notification manager automatically clusters and silences lower-priority notifications (including promotions, news, and social updates), allowing you to concentrate on what’s important with fewer interruptions. It is being rolled out gradually and will be available shortly,” stated Google.
Enhanced parental controls
Android 16 QPR2 introduces a “parental controls” feature in settings, allowing parents to oversee their children’s devices from a central location. Parents can impose screen-time restrictions, manage app usage, and arrange device locks remotely.
