Anker Adds 5 More Power Banks to Recall List

Anker, the manufacturer of electronics, has revealed yet another major recall concerning five of its well-known charging devices. This marks the second recall the company has initiated this month, impacting over one million power banks so far, with the possibility of more coming. Anker asserts that the choice was made “out of an abundance of caution.”

Even with reassurances, owners of certain Anker MagGo and Anker Zolo power banks are urged to verify their model numbers right away. As stated in the recall notice, the affected devices pose a risk of overheating, melting, smoking, or potentially igniting.

The models included in the recall are:

– Anker Power Bank (10K) – Model A1257
– Anker Power Bank (20,000mAh, Built-In USB-C Cable) – Model A1647
– Anker MagGo Power Bank (10,000mAh) – Model A1652
– Anker Zolo Power Bank (20K, Built-In USB-C and Lightning Cable) – Model A1681
– Anker Zolo Power Bank (20K, Built-In USB-C Cable) – Model A1689

Anker explains that the problem stems from defective lithium-ion battery cells utilized in the affected models. Customers with qualifying devices can submit a claim to obtain a complimentary replacement or a gift card for use on Anker.com. To proceed, users must fill out a recall claim form along with their proof of purchase.

Owners are also advised to dispose of recalled devices responsibly by bringing them to an authorized electronics recycling center, such as those found at local hardware retailers like Home Depot.
