Insta360 unveiled its new drone line, Antigravity, last month, teasing the debut of the “world’s first” consumer aerial drone featuring integrated 360-degree video recording. Antigravity has now introduced this drone: the Antigravity A1.
The Antigravity A1, revealed in July, will capture 360-degree video at 8K resolution, weigh 249g, and include payload detection to ensure it is solely utilized for filming purposes. Antigravity has now shared additional information and launched the first visuals of the A1.
Antigravity describes the A1 as a portable drone, with visuals demonstrating its rotor arms folding for convenient storage and transport. The A1’s dual-lens camera system resembles Insta360’s X series of 360 cameras, with lenses positioned on the top and bottom of the drone’s body. The footage is stitched to exclude the drone from the 360-degree video.
Significantly, the A1 replaces conventional stick controls with a novel piloting system. Rather than the traditional thumb joysticks, the A1 will be controlled using Antigravity’s handheld Grip controller, similar in design to VR controllers like the Meta Quest Touch Pro. This will be utilized alongside Antigravity’s Vision goggles, which are worn during A1 operation.
Antigravity asserts that head tracking technology will enable users to look around effortlessly, with flight managed through hand gestures. This allows users to gaze in one direction while navigating in another, improving accessibility for both novices and seasoned flyers.
The Antigravity A1 is anticipated to launch in January 2026, but select users will receive pre-production models for testing, with their insights influencing the final version. Participants can also vie for a portion of Antigravity’s $20,000 reward pool. Applications are now available on the company’s website.
