Apple Deletes Vibe Coding Application “Anything” from App Store

Apple has taken down an AI-enhanced iOS application from the App Store. The application, called “Anything,” was intended for “vibe coding,” which entails utilizing natural language AI prompts to develop applications, frequently by individuals lacking formal coding knowledge. As reported by The Information, Apple has been eliminating or preventing updates for vibe coding applications since March, impacting apps such as Vibecode and Replit. Apple informed MacRumors that although there isn’t a specific policy against vibe coding, these applications breach App Store Guideline 2.5.2, which mandates that apps must be self-contained and not execute code that modifies app functionality. This guideline complicates the retention of vibe coding apps on the App Store. Developers have also faced delays in app approvals, with some attributing these holdups to vibe coding apps creating a bottleneck. As a result, prospective iOS app developers may need to acquire traditional coding skills.
