Apple Event 2025: 5 New Apple Products Probably Won’t Launch Next Week

Apple fans are just days away from the Apple Event 2025, which will officially reveal the iPhone 17 on September 9. This event typically sees the launch of additional products as well. Last year’s gathering debuted the iPhone 16, Apple Watch Series 10, AirPods 4, and more. A similar approach is expected this time, although not all speculated Apple products will be showcased next week.

Before we delve further, let’s recap what we expect at this year’s Apple launch event. Anticipated items include the iPhone 17, Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch Ultra 3, the ultra-slim iPhone 17 Air, and likely the AirPods Pro 3. Typically, Apple highlights the iPhone, AirPods, and Apple Watch during these September events, yet a few other products projected for 2025 might also be introduced.

That said, many new Apple offerings are not anticipated during the event, either due to a subsequent event in late 2025 or a planned 2026 release.

The forthcoming iPhone ‘e’ model

Apple phased out the iPhone SE in favor of the iPhone ‘e’ model, starting with the iPhone 16e. While it’s exciting to see Apple paying equal attention to its budget-friendly iPhone as the flagship models, the next ‘e’ iPhone is unlikely to arrive alongside the iPhone 17. The primary reason is that Apple generally schedules these releases for spring, a trend established with the iPhone SE variants. The iPhone 17e is projected for next year, as per Mark Gurman from Bloomberg.

New Mac devices

Reports suggest that Apple is working on several new Mac devices, including an M4 Mac Pro and Macs featuring the upcoming M5 chip. Typically, Apple reserves Mac announcements for a different event, often in October or May. If you’re in the market for a new MacBook, you’ll need to hold off. Some announcements might even be postponed until 2026. The MacBook Pro with an M5 chip is rumored to see delays until 2026, along with several other products. Thus, no new Mac devices are expected at the iPhone launch next week, although the M4 Mac Pro might debut before the close of 2026.

New iPads

Similar to the Mac lineup, Apple usually retains new iPad announcements for other events, often coinciding with Mac reveals. In recent years, iPad announcements have been saved for spring, and there’s no sign of changing this trend with the iPhone 17. According to Gurman, Apple is planning to reserve iPad announcements for early 2026, including a new entry-level iPad, new iPads equipped with M4 chips, and the iPhone 17e as part of a “wave of new products” in the first half of next year. Don’t expect to see any iPads at the September Apple Event 2025.

New AirPods Max

While there may be an announcement for the AirPods Pro 3, the AirPods Max will not be featured. The original version is nearing five years since its launch, and the next iteration is anticipated in 2027, according to MacRumors. The update is expected to be lighter and incorporate new technologies such as heart rate monitoring and enhanced internals. The refresh from last year primarily added new color choices and a USB-C port, maintaining its status as a first-generation product.

Any HomePod products

Apple has a few HomePod products in the works, such as a HomePod smart home hub and the HomePod mini 2. However, it seems unlikely we’ll see either at the September Apple event, though it’s not out of the question. Apple is expected to launch the HomePod mini and a new Apple TV 4K device by the end of 2025, which might coincidentally be revealed at the iPhone event. Yet, it’s more probable they will be announced at a separate event alongside new Macs. The HomePod smart home hub might be postponed until 2026, as Apple prepares Apple Intelligence. It’s improbable that any HomePod products will surface on September 9.

The upcoming Apple Vision Pro

Speculation surrounding the Apple Vision Pro is increasing as Apple plans to launch an updated model before the end of 2025, featuring the M5 chip and enhanced comfort. This aligns with the forthcoming VisionOS 26 update, set for autumn 2025. Apple is also developing the Vision Air, but that’s not expected until 2027 at the earliest. It’s very unlikely this technology will debut with the iPhone lineup. Since the update incorporates an M5 chip, it’s more apt to be released alongside other M5 products. We might glimpse the refreshed Vision Pro later in 2025. Nonetheless, Apple could tease some of these products next week.

The launch event primarily focuses on mobile offerings

Apple tends to categorize its products, and the iPhone event often features the iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods products (and possibly the AirTag 2 this year). If it doesn’t fall under mobile product categories, it’s unlikely to launch next week.
