Apple has recently refreshed its **vintage and obsolete devices list**, officially designating a number of older iPhone and Apple Watch models as “old.”
Included in the iPhones now categorized as vintage are the **iPhone 6s Plus** and **iPhone XS Max**. Interestingly, the smaller **iPhone XS** and **iPhone 6s** are still in circulation. However, according to **MacRumors**, the 32GB models of the **iPhone 6s** and **iPhone 6s Plus** have already been relegated to the obsolete category. Regarding Apple Watches, the **Apple Watch Series 2** variants crafted from aluminum and stainless steel have now been identified as obsolete.

Apple describes **vintage** devices as those that were discontinued for sale more than five but fewer than seven years ago. These models can still undergo repairs, as long as parts are available. Conversely, **obsolete** devices refer to those that have not been available for over seven years. For these models, hardware support is terminated, and service providers can no longer procure parts.
Currently active Apple devices that have not yet been deemed vintage or obsolete continue to receive **OS updates**. However, certain newer features, like **Apple Intelligence**, are incompatible with older active models. Presently, **Apple Intelligence** is solely supported by the entire **iPhone 16 generation** and the **iPhone 15 Pro** and **iPhone 15 Pro Max** models.
