**Apple to Introduce Enhanced AI Capabilities to Mac Mail App with macOS 15.4 Update**
Apple is said to be preparing to improve its Mail application on Mac by adding sophisticated Apple Intelligence functionalities, representing a long-anticipated advancement for Mac users.
While Apple has launched various AI-driven tools for iPhone and iPad users with the rollout of **iOS 18.2**, the capabilities for Mac users have been somewhat limited thus far. Some of these features were part of **macOS Sequoia 15.2**, which debuted in December, but the complete array of tools has yet to be made available for Macs.
As per **Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman**, this is poised to change. In his “Power On” newsletter, Gurman disclosed that Apple aims to incorporate AI-enhanced upgrades into the Mail app with the introduction of **macOS 15.4**, which is expected to be released in April after **macOS 15.3** arrives in late January or early February.
“The Mac will receive an improved Mail app that utilizes AI to prioritize messages and categorize content into distinct inboxes,” Gurman stated. “Currently, iPad and iPhone users can benefit from this feature — which is fantastic — but Mac users have been neglected. That will change with macOS 15.4, I’m informed.”
### What Can Apple Intelligence Achieve in Mail?
The newest iteration of Apple Intelligence provides a range of functionalities for the Mail app, including:
– **Writing Tools** to assist in drafting emails.
– **Smart Reply** for quickly composing email replies.
– Summarizing extensive email conversations.
– AI-driven tools for ranking emails and sorting them into separate inboxes.
Although several of these features were introduced in **macOS Sequoia 15.2**, the forthcoming update is set to include the highly sought-after message prioritization and email organization tools — features that Gmail has been offering for years.
### More AI Innovations Coming to Macs
The Mail app is not the sole domain where Apple is enhancing its AI features. Gurman also noted that **Genmoji**, Apple’s AI-generated personalized emoji, will soon be accessible on Macs. This feature first appeared on iPhones and iPads and is now transitioning to macOS.
Furthermore, Apple is planning to unveil an updated version of **Siri** with macOS 15.4 and iOS 18.4. The new Siri is expected to be more advanced, utilizing personal data and **App Intents technology** to deliver more accurate app management.
“For the first time, Apple is bringing its Genmoji custom emoji to the Mac — after their introduction on the iPhone and iPad,” Gurman remarked. “The company will expand its features by April with iOS 18.4 and macOS 15.4. The major addition at that time will be the new Siri digital assistant, which will better utilize personal information and apply App Intents technology for more precise app control.”
### A Challenging Journey for Apple AI
This announcement of upcoming features follows a period of criticism for Apple’s AI-generated news summaries feature, which was halted after several inaccuracies. Despite this challenge, Apple seems determined to further develop its AI ecosystem across various devices.
