### Apple Watch Might Feature a Camera, but Don’t Expect FaceTime

A forthcoming **Apple Watch** version may come with an integrated camera, as per a recent report—but don’t anticipate using it for FaceTime or covert video recording.

In his latest newsletter, Bloomberg’s **Mark Gurman** (via *9to5Mac*) disclosed that Apple is investigating ways to evolve the Apple Watch into an “AI device equipped with a camera.”

#### A Camera for AI, Not Videoconferencing

The camera would reportedly enable the watch to “perceive” its environment, leveraging **Apple’s Visual Intelligence** technology to present practical real-world details. For instance, if a user passes by a train station, the watch might automatically show the day’s schedule.

Both the standard **Apple Watch** and the **Apple Watch Ultra** are anticipated to come with cameras, but their locations could vary. On the regular variant, the camera might be placed beneath the display, while on the Ultra, it could be located on the side near the crown and side button.

#### No FaceTime Features

Even with a camera, the Apple Watch is **not** expected to facilitate FaceTime calls or standard photography. The emphasis seems to be on AI-driven features.

Curiously, similar speculations have emerged regarding **upcoming AirPods**, which might also include cameras to boost AI functionalities.

#### Not Arriving Anytime Soon

If you’re looking forward to a camera-equipped Apple Watch, patience is essential. Gurman indicates that neither the Apple Watch nor the AirPods will sport cameras until **at least 2027**.

While information remains limited, this evolution suggests Apple’s wider ambition to weave AI into its wearable technologies.
