Apple’s iPhone 17 May Introduce a Significant Enhancement to the Selfie Camera

Apple seems to be preparing for a significant enhancement to the front-facing camera on the iPhone 17 range.

As per analyst Jeff Pu (via *MacRumors*), every model in the forthcoming iPhone 17 lineup—including the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and the anticipated iPhone 17 Air—are likely to sport a 24-megapixel selfie camera.

This represents a notable upgrade over the present iPhone models, which come with a 12-megapixel front camera. Although further specifics are limited, well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously mentioned that the improved camera will “greatly enhance image quality.”

For users, this upgrade could result in clearer, more detailed selfies. Apple might also integrate pixel binning technology to boost brightness in dim lighting scenarios.

This step is in line with trends in the smartphone market, as many Android phones already provide high-resolution front cameras. For example, the newly launched Xiaomi 15 Ultra features a 32-megapixel selfie camera.

Pu also disclosed other possible improvements for the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, such as 12GB of RAM and a 48-megapixel telephoto camera.

As always, Apple has not validated any details regarding its upcoming products. These speculations will remain unverified until the official unveiling, expected in September.
