On Wednesday, multiple prominent platforms owned by Meta — encompassing Instagram, Facebook, Threads, and WhatsApp — faced significant issues, with numerous users indicating that the applications had completely crashed.
As per user-contributed data on [Down Detector](https://downdetector.com/), a site that monitors outages (and is under the same parent company as Mashable), reports of complications started to rise around 1 p.m. EST. This surge reflected simultaneous failures across Facebook, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, and Threads.
Users took to social media to express their discontent and observations about the outages.

Meta has yet to release an official comment concerning the disruptions. Nonetheless, by 1:41 p.m. EST, the situation seemed to be improving, as the count of outage reports on Down Detector began to fall. At that moment, I was able to open Meta’s key apps and websites successfully, implying that the issues might have been temporary.
