Black Mirror Season 7 Trailer Reveals Troubling Plots for Every New Episode

Netflix Reveals Trailer for Black Mirror Season 7: A Peek Into Technology-Driven Nightmares

Netflix has released the episodic trailer for Black Mirror Season 7, providing a spine-tingling sneak peek into the dystopian narratives awaiting viewers in Charlie Brooker’s celebrated anthology series. Each installment promises an immersive look at the sinister aspects of technology, featuring a star-studded cast and numerous unsettling surprises.

The season begins with “Common People,” starring Rashida Jones, Chris O’Dowd, and Tracee Ellis Ross. Jones portrays Amanda, a teacher who faces a life-threatening health crisis. In a desperate effort, her husband Mike (O’Dowd) enrolls her in Rivermind, an innovative neurological program. However, this so-called advancement comes with a disturbing catch — Amanda’s consciousness becomes a medium for targeted advertising. The trailer suggests a haunting examination of consent and exploitation.

Following is “Bête Noire,” where culinary prodigy Maria (Siena Kelly) reconnects with her old classmate Verity (Rosy McEwen) at the workplace. Yet, something about Verity feels amiss — and only Maria perceives it. Is Verity distorting reality, or is Maria losing her sanity? In classic Black Mirror style, the truth is likely more unsettling than it appears.

In “Eulogy,” Paul Giamatti plays a solitary man who experiments with new technology that allows him to step into vintage photographs. Guided by an enigmatic figure portrayed by Patsy Ferran, he revisits poignant memories — but the trailer reveals him pleading to escape the ordeal. Anticipate a substantial amount of nostalgia and psychological anguish.

“Hotel Reverie” unites Issa Rae, Awkwafina, and Emma Corrin in a narrative about a real-time film remake powered by a system called ReDream. Rae takes on the role of Brandy Friday, an A-list actress transported to a realm inhabited by AI beings — including Corrin’s character. As the AIs begin to question their existence, Brandy has to discover a way back to her own reality. This episode delves into identity, simulation, and the ethics surrounding digital performances.

In “Plaything,” Peter Capaldi gives a haunting portrayal of Cameron Walker, a man linked to a decades-old video game from the ‘90s. The game features evolving digital entities that seem to have communicated with him. “I could receive their first message,” he ominously states in the trailer. “A greeting.” Will Poulter and Asim Chaudhry reprise their roles from the interactive special Bandersnatch, hinting at deeper ties to the Black Mirror universe.

The trailer wraps up with an initial glimpse at “USS Callister: Into Infinity,” a sequel to the beloved Season 4 episode. Though the oppressive Captain Robert Daly is gone, the crew of the USS Callister — now led by Cristin Milioti’s Nanette Cole — is ensnared in the online game Infinity, fighting for survival against millions of players. Original cast members Jimmi Simpson, Billy Magnussen, Osy Ikhile, Milanka Brooks, and Paul G. Raymond return, and the trailer offers glimpses of their real-world versions reacting to the chaos occurring in-game.

“Don’t freak out,” Nanette tells James (Simpson) in the Callister Inc. offices — but after viewing these previews, it’s fair to say we’re already on high alert.

Black Mirror Season 7 debuts on April 10 on Netflix.
