After the triumph of the Zoom horror film inspired by the coronavirus, *[Host](https://mashable.com/article/host-shudder-review)*, it was only a matter of time before more horror films centered around video calls would surface.
The newest entry in this subgenre is *Bloat*, a spine-tingling tale recounted through video calls between a soldier and his family, who are on vacation in Japan. Chaos ensues when one of the children nearly drowns and begins exhibiting strange symptoms. The father finds himself grappling with the descending horror amidst the aggravating constraints of faulty long-distance technology.
Featuring Ben McKenzie and Bojana Novakovic, *Bloat* is crafted by writer and director Pablo Absento, presenting a contemporary, innovative take on the found footage filmmaking method.
*Bloat* will premiere in theaters and be available on demand starting March 7.
