With a title like *Bone Lake*, two interpretations emerge. The first is presented at the beginning of the latest trailer from Bleecker Street, where one of four vacationers expresses that he assumed the name implied it was a secluded place for couples to “bone.” (How refined.)
The second interpretation is less romantic, suggesting that beneath the lake’s beautiful exterior, bodies lie hidden. And given that this is a horror film, why not both?
Sex and death appear to be pivotal to *Bone Lake*. Penned by Joshua Friedlander and helmed by Mercedes Bryce Morgan, this original horror film starts with two couples who are unfamiliar with each other, arriving at the same isolated lake house for a weekend. What was intended to be a romantic retreat morphs into a group gathering, where sexual tension and romantic rivalries surface. However, the more pressing concern is that half of these vacationers are keen on engaging in a twisted game that could determine life or death.
Maddie Hasson, Alex Roe, Andra Nechita, and Marco Pigossi headline the cast.
*Bone Lake* is set to hit theaters across the nation on Oct. 3.
